Right In Our Own Backyard!

This past Monday turned out to be a beautiful day. So we started our season of "field trips" and packed up the car for a drive to Roxborough State Park which was only about a 45-minute drive for us.
We had a little picnic lunch at the visitor's center where the girls were totally fascinated with the hummingbird feeder. Those suckers sure do move fast, but we did manage to capture them on film!
From there we drove about another 30 minutes south to Castlewood Canyon which is another beautiful state park. This park has beautiful canyons and gorges right in the middle of all of these farms and fields.
We didn't stay too long because we were all getting worn out from hiking and a full day in the sun!

It looks lovely - we too are doing a trip once a month this summer, thanks to your earlier tip about this. Great photos of the hummingbirds, I need to get our feeder out and set up again for the summer, we have a few local families and I just love them.
How fun! I need to start planning trips like this NOW, since today is the last day of school!
