County Fair

Yesterday, the girls and I spent the afternoon at the Arapahoe County Fair. The fairgrounds are only 10 minutes from our home, so it was a quick trip for us. We were extremely blessed because the Airmen and Family Readiness Group out of the base provided us with free admission, free rides, and a free meal. Who could pass that up!
We got there early and went straight to face painting.
Nudgie opted for the rainbow butterfly and Nani just went for a fancy design complete with glitter and a sparkly jewel.
After that, we headed over to the open area to see the police dog demonstration. I was more excited to see this than the girls, but once the dogs came out, their "awwwww"'s and "they're so cute" made me realize I made the right decision.
Officer Thor with his ball |
Officer Gordon "playing" with his trainer |
Brave police officer in the bite suit |
From there, we headed over to see all the animals.
The girls petting Homer |
Then it was time for lunch (after washing hands of course!)
After lunch, we played some games and the girls each won a stuffed animal....all on their own....no help from mommy! We headed into the main building to see some exhibits and Nani got to try her hand at weaving.
We took some more pictures and then got to watch the chainsaw carving demonstration. The girls loved the dog!
We wrapped up the day with some rides and a yummy funnel cake!
At the end of the day, the girls were happy....and mommy was exhausted!
And even though we missed My Marine terribly.....it made my heart swell when at bedtime they both told me, "Thank you mommy for the best day ever....."
I just hope that I can continue to give them special times like this to help ease Daddy being gone.....
