My favorite theme was just this past Summer for my son's 7th b'day I did a back yard beach birthday bash. It was a HUGE party, my biggest one and most detailed by far but it was all a labor of love.

Here is the link if you are interested in seeing it 8)

My favorite memory of a birthday is when my oldest (23 now) received a bike for his birthday and that same day my mother ran it over (backed over it) with her car...it was sad but memorable.

My favorite theme by far has been the Halloween theme for my little girl. IT was this past October and we had a blast! Everyone came in costume and we decorated pumpkins and played games. Loved it. Very easy to decorate for as well!

One of my favorite birthday memories is when I got to have my first sleepover party. My mom made us all matching t-shirts and my parents took us to the mall together. I remember us all getting to pick out a few things at the dollar store. We all thought we were "big." :)

My favorite thing we have done for my daughter was a dress-up fashion show party when she turned 6.

My favorite birthday memory from my kiddos is having candles in their breakfast.

My favorite birthday I did for one of my girls had to be for my now 11yo. It was her 4th birthday and she LOVED!!!!! hippos! I found an old Wilton cake pan in a Hippo! on ebay and won the auction. The lady thot I was nuts as it was going to cost more to overnight it(to make sure I had it in time--few days before party) than it was to buy it. All total it cost me $40 but was soo worth it when she saw a hippo cake with balloon(circle cake 'attached' by ribbon to hippo's hand) and the other decors(mostly from dltk.com) for the party. It was simple in the backyard, sandwiches, chips, fruit/vegs,drinks. Kids had a blast! She still remembers it fondly too.

Favorite Birthday memory....hmmm. I guess it would be the last birthday I had before we moved to our house in 07. The kids wanted to do something and so I told them they could just get me a big cookie. Well at that time there wasn't one to be found anywhere! So my husband who had them out shopping picked up 3 tubes of cookie dough and icing/sprinkles and the gifts and brought them home to make my cookie(s) and decorate them. It was great to see my then 10, 7,&6yo present me with the cookie they made and the presents they picked and wrapped. I had 3 cookies, a great cookbook(10yo), a My Little Pony unicorn pegasus, and a stuffed Unicorn. I loved all those gifts and they sit in my kitchen(yes, the unicorns are out of place but the MLP sticks to the fridge and we keep the other unicorn--'for company for the MLP'--LOL)

We did a pirate theme party. Had an inflatable pirate ship ring toss game and a pirate pinata with eye patches and other "booty". My mom in law made the cake and it was amazing! Shaped like a pirate ship. The cannons were pirouette cookies and the cannon balls were whoppers.

My fav birthday memory was when I turned 7. My mom got old reel style films from the library and a projector. I had a Strawberry Shortcake cake and my friend gave me a white stuffed My Little Pony with a pink mane and tail with a tiny hair brush. My dad dressed up as a clown for the first time and had so much fun that he ended up being a clown for about 15 years going to different churches and friends birthdays and such. I just remember feeling loved.

I'm really hoping to do an art theme for Emma's next birthday - I think it's such a fun idea! Our favorite theme so far was probably Johnny's third birthday, which was a very laid-back trucks and trains playdate!

MaryAnne December 12, 2011 at 6:19 AM

I think fourth birthdays are always magical - I remember my own, and I've loved those parties for my kids. They are just old enough to understand it all, and young enough that everything seems magical!

OurWanderingAdventures December 13, 2011 at 9:03 PM

How FUN!!! Our favorite theme was an ART theme! As our 2 oldest birthdays are only 7 days apart, they share parties. They have the same friends and it just makes sense :) This also means we have to get creative on themes that are for both boys and girls!

A favorite birthday memory is going to sound cheezy, but it's all of them. My husband goes out of his way to make each child feel like a king or queen for their birthday! Right down to taking the day off of work and making it a YES day for said person. (Yes, he does it for me too!!).

He makes every single birthday memorable!

If I have to pick just one, this past October my youngest turned 4 and we covered the ENTIRE floor of his room in balloons! It took FOREVER to blow them all up, but the expression that he had when we awoke made it all worthwhile!
